Hooray! Reading Olympics Results!

A big thank you to all the students and families who participated in this year's Reading Olympics! We surpassed our goals and look forward to funding bilingual classroom support and enrichment through international interns from Spanish speaking countries. Money raised will also help pay for teacher resources for special projects, literacy programs and community events! 

Congratulations to all the students participating in this year's Reading Olympics! 

We far exceeded our school wide goal of reading 100,000 minutes and ended up reading a collective 234,065 minutes! At home reading minutes totaled 115,525 and school reading minutes totaled 118,540. We will celebrate all student's hard work during the Reading Olympics Water Balloon Relay assembly happening Friday, April 7th! All the individual prizes will be awarded during the assembly for the reading goodie baskets and the two Kindles, plus, participation magnets for all students! 
 
The class within each grade who logged the most minutes and earned extra recess are:

• Kindergarten class winner! Maestro Montaño

• 1st grade class winner! Maestra Ochoa

• 2nd grade class winner! Maestra Whitted

• 3rd grade class winner! Maestro Llamas

• 4th grade class winner! Maestra Mehlhaff

• 5th grade class winner! Maestra Batten

 
The top 4 classes who raised the most money during the pledge drive and earned a pizza party: 

• 1st Maestra Silva's class

• 2nd Maestra Whitted's class

• 3rd Maestra Sloniger's class 

• 4th Maestro Montaño's class

*These 4 classes we'll have a pizza party in the afternoon and Maestra Silva's class will go home with DQ tokens! 
 
The eight classes who raised over $1,000 have also earned an extra recess:
